Special Edition of International Journal and Exhibition

Special Edition of international Journal of Arts & Communities in partnership with Amnesty International Arts & Human Rights

You may know that one of the partners for Knowing Ways: Critical Learning in Arts Practice is Intellect publishers. Hamish Fyfe & I are the editors for the international Journal of Arts & Communities [JAAC]. You will also have seen that another partner is Amnesty International, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year.  In celebration of Amnesty’s work JAAC created a Special Edition of the Journal in partnership with Amnesty International Arts & Human Rights. This was launched at the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award last week and also will be launched at Knowing Ways: Critical Learning in Arts Practice. It is published in two parts with Part 2 being published later this year:

You will see that the guest editors for the Special Edition are Joyce McMillan and Neil Cooper who are also two of the Reviewers and Chair/Critical Friends for the conference.

Conference Exhibition

I am delighted that some of the contributors to the Special Edition are going to be with us at the conference, and we are trying to make contact through skype with those who cannot be with us [mainly for political or financial reasons]. The Knowing Ways: Critical Learning in Arts Practice international conference exhibition is one of the articles in the Special Edition:

visual dialogues in urban landscapes: Athens

Everyone is excited for Myrto Tsilimpounidi and Ally Walsh, their exhibition will run at North Edinburgh Arts until 30th September and they are to be congratulated for securing the funding to bring this to Edinburgh. I hope you have time to see their work whilst you are at the conference.

An updated timetable is available on the website:
